Our U12 Baird Dbees team had a good start to the new ice hockey season this morning with a convincing 6-0 win over our arch rivals Meco.
Our game started off a little bit slow with both teams testing each other out with a few soft shots. The score remained at 0-0 for the first period and most of the second. During this time we had to kill two penalties and we gave our defence and goalie Julian a good work out.
In the second half of the second period, C threaded a sweet pass to Nicholas Winchester, putting him in the slot with only the goalie to beat. 1-0 Dbees!
Nicholas kept the team momentum going and in the first few minutes of the third period, scored another 2 goals to complete his hatrick.
The third period was all Dbees, despite 3 more penalties, we managed to score 3 more times, with one of the goals being a shorthanded goal!
Over all coach Stuart was very pleased with the team performance and already knows what areas to work on during our practices.
